“Take a step towards Creativity”

Initiation to culture and the arts start from early childhood education should be acknowledged across the EU as an essential part of the curricula. Arts can also be used to improve the acquisition of competences, crucial to foster one’s creativity and sense of appreciation of cultural diversity. Their use can contribute to develop a whole set of key competences, from basic (i.e. language skills through acting) to transversal skills (i.e. logic through juggling) in young individuals. This means we need good trained youth workers in order to be deliver these required skills in youth. For this reason the improvement of youth workers is needed by a training which sensitize them to the importance of culture and favour their activities with creativity and art. The project emphasises also the crucial role of culture in broadening the access to lifelong learning, especially for the disadvantaged groups who our partners often work with. Bridging education and culture strategies and policies at EU level to upgrade our young people’s skills, increase their employability and especially make them socially included, fulfilled individuals and active citizens is essential in that respect. These areas ARE interlinked and influence each other. To be effective, youth work needs to be more self critical and constantly look for innovations. With this project we discovered experiences and good practices from the field of culture and creativity and explored how to apply it to work with young people. It was not only about art and creative expression, but it was also about helping each person to find their OWN authentic way of cultural identity and supporting cultural diversity while interacting with others.
